Tallinn University

Tallinn University is a modern and dynamic research institution in Estonia, recognized for its leading role in advancing an intelligent lifestyle – making research-informed decisions that enhance societal development and improve the well-being of citizens – through education, research, and distinctive interdisciplinary collaboration.

As Tallinn’s foremost university in the humanities and social sciences, Tallinn University offers exceptionally interdisciplinary study and research opportunities and is among the most interdisciplinary universities in Estonia. This cross-disciplinary approach enables innovative research across structural boundaries and supports the creation of some of the most unique and forward-thinking English-language degree programmes available both in Estonia and in Europe.

Students develop expertise across multiple fields through project-based learning. For instance, in the Social Entrepreneurship programme, students design profitable business models that also generate social value, presenting their ideas in competitive pitching formats.

The Competence Center of Cultural Psychology

The Competence Center of Cultural psychology was established in 2025. The aim of the competence center is to create a fundamental internationally integrated knowledge base about cultural psychology as the most rapidly growing field in psychology and in society in general.

The center intends to provide basic research education at a higher level of academic excellence, as well as information about cultural psychology to people from different educational and interdisciplinary backgrounds in the field of social, educational, and health sciences.

The center is an integral part of Tallinn University’s Psychology and Behavioural Sciences study area within the School of Natural Sciences and Health. The center organizes international seminars and conferences to cultivate productive international partnerships with diverse institutions.

In its first half year of activity, the center organized the inaugural international Autumn Seminar and, in collaboration with the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil), an international mini-conference. These initiatives have fostered productive collaboration among researchers across multiple levels, including the participation of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students.

Welcome to our University!
Cultural psychology research at SFU Berlin is transdisciplinary and thrives on the active participation of students. The cultural and social science orientation of the psychology program is a genuine alternative to the predominantly theoretical natural science orientation at other universities. The emphasis is on cultural perspectives concerning developmental and clinical psychology.
