Jaan Valsiner Foundation: University Beyond Borders
The Foundation aims to support the intellectual development and scientific growth of young researchers in the field of human and social sciences often forced to long periods of precariousness due to uncertainties in the university system and the scarcity of resources for scientific research.
The foundation draws inspiration and foundation from the academic path of Professor Jaan Valsiner who has made commitment to talented young researchers a reason for living. Dedication to people who invest their intellectual energies at the cost of many sacrifices and who go through long periods of economic instability, has been expressed through the action of intellectual support and a style of tutoring respectful of the intellectual freedom of others.
Association of European Qualitative Researchers in Psychology
Welcome to the Association of European Qualitative Researchers in Psychology (EQuiP). We are a society that aims to create bridges among qualitative researchers in psychology across Europe – bridges between researchers from different European countries but also bridges between different research traditions of qualitative inquiry in psychology. In doing this, we also want to contribute to (re-)think about psychology as a discipline. Our specific aims are to:
- Provide researchers from different geographical parts of Europe opportunities to increase their visibility
- Serve as a ‘hub’ that fosters dialogue among researchers engaged in qualitative research
- Represent clearly the multiplicity of qualitative research approaches (or/and ‘schools’) and providing a platform for constructive exchange between colleagues working in different qualitative research traditions
- Promote qualitative research practices from plural institutional and sociocultural backgrounds (beyond but not excluding Anglo-Saxon organisations)
- Advance innovation in qualitative methodologies in psychology and enhance the understanding of how qualitative research can contribute specifically to psychology
- Create dialogue with other disciplines and interdisciplinary areas
- Overcome possible linguistic barriers and enable scholarly exchange across linguistic communities in Europe (and beyond)
Centre for Cultural Psychology
The Centre for Cultural Psychology (CCP) is dedicated to research on complex psychological functioning within dynamic social contexts. Cultural Psychology is a globally expanding field with a focus on the mutual constitution of people and society, which involves exploring the entanglement of Culture, Communication and Mind in situated human lives.
Today CCP plays an active role in promoting cutting-edge international research on the mutual constitution of culture and mind, preparing students for work in addressing the challenges of an increasing globalized and multicultural society, and advising societal stakeholders on social innovation.
The activities of the Centre include research projects, conferences, seminars and discussion groups, guest lecturers and various publication outlets (viz., journals, book series etc.). The Centre is an open arena for meetings and cooperation across disciplinary and institutional boundaries, aiming to stimulate the cross-fertilization between academic perspectives.
Gesellschaft für Kulturpsychologie e.V.
(Association for Cultural Psychology)
The Association for Cultural Psychology is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1986 by Hans Werbik, Wilhelm Salber, and Wilhelm Joseph Revers in Salzburg. Since 2022, it has been based in Halle (Saale), Germany. The Association’s primary objective is the promotion of scientific cultural psychology in research and teaching including a mission, which is threefold: firstly, to promote theoretical, empirical, and applied cultural psychology, and comparative cultural psychology; secondly, to disseminate its findings; and thirdly, to support specialist events.The Society fulfills these goals through the following activities:
- Organization of conferences
- Support for specialist events
- Publishing conference documentation and other scientific publications
- Publishing information for members and interested parties of the society
- To promote the position of cultural psychology at universities, colleges, and research institutions
- To promote cooperation between individuals working in cultural psychology, as well as between psychology and its neighboring disciplines
- To award the Erst E. Boesch Prize
Cultural Psychology Network
The purpose of the European doctoral network is to allow young researchers to meet and enter in a community of researchers in sociocultural psychology. Research cannot be alone; meetings, arguing and thinking together, collaborative work is important for mutual training, scientific exchanges and the emergence of new idea. The network thus aims to become a place for developing theoretical, methodological or epistemological knowledge in sociocultural psychology; it will not teach generally shared models, techniques, or soft skills. The doctoral network offers two to three meetings a year, possible associated to a conference or workshop relevant for the network. Partners universities include: University of Lausanne (CH); University of Aalborg (DK); University of Copenhagen (DK); London School of Economic (UK); University of Belgrade (SE); University of Salento (IT); University of Cyprus (CY); University of Bath (UK).
European Society of Psychology Learning and Teaching
The European Society of Psychology Learning and Teaching (ESPLAT) is an official European academic organisation whose aim is to advance the learning and teaching of psychology at all educational levels, and to provide a forum to engage researchers and teachers of psychology in communication and exchange.
Our biennial conferences provide rich opportunities to discuss research into teaching and learning, create new connections, and find inspiration in new ideas.
ESPLAT provides a means through which scholars and teachers of psychology can connect and collaborate, share resources, and build evidence-based teaching practices.
Investigations in Cultural Psychology: Culture, Language, Transitions and Developmental Trajectories (CULTS/UFBA)
The Research Group “Investigations in Cultural Psychology: Culture, Language, Transitions and Developmental Trajectories” (CULTS/UFBA) is coordinated by Professor Dr. Maria Virgínia Machado Dazzani, linked to the Graduate Program in Psychology (PPGPSI) at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). This group stands out for its commitment to the study of human development in cultural contexts, adopting predominantly idiographic and ethnographic methodological approaches. Its central theoretical orientation is based on Cultural Psychology.
One of the main lines of research at CULTS/UFBA focuses on the analysis of developmental transitions and trajectories, with special emphasis on the semiotic dynamics that regulate psychological functioning. This involves investigating how subjects interact with various institutions, such as the family, nursery school, school, university, socio-educational system, collectives, among others.
A striking feature of CULTS/UFBA is its integration of research and extension activities in the aforementioned contexts. This includes the active participation of undergraduate and postgraduate students, who play key roles in the group’s activities. Collaboration between researchers at different academic levels enriches the research environment and promotes the development of new perspectives.

Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo: The Laboratory of Verbal Interaction and Knowledge Construction (LIVCC), established in 1991, undertakes research endeavors focused on the examination of knowledge construction processes, with a particular emphasis on the dynamics between the self and other, and on the symbolic actions of individuals within cultural contexts of maintenance and transformation.The theoretical framework that serves as the foundation for this research is Semiotic-Cultural Constructivism in Psychology.
American Psychological Association: International Psychology
Division 52: International Psychology seeks to develop a psychological science and practice that is contextually informed, culturally inclusive, serves the public interest and promotes global perspectives within and outside of APA. The Division of International Psychology represents the interest of all psychologists who foster international connections among psychologists, engage in multicultural research or practice, apply psychological principles to the development of public policy or are otherwise concerned with individual and group consequences of global events.
Ritsumeikan University: College of Comprehensive Psychology
College of Comprehensive Psychology concentrates on two educational principles: One is to cover a wide range of psychological fields comprehensively, from basic human understanding to practical application. The other is to acquire comprehensive grounding as a mature, independent person through holistic education and learning.
